Our Staff – Denis Sevilla

We want you to meet our staff! Though you may know some of them, or have met them if you’ve visited, we wanted to share more about them and what they do for CEPAD.

Denis Sevilla is the Regional Director for CEPAD’s office in Matagalpa. As the Regional Delegate, Denis overseas the programs for the Matagalpa region and works with the social technician, who goes out to visit the communities to do workshops, trainings, and check on how things are going with community members to make sure they are supported in all of their endeavors.

Part of what makes Denis’ story unique is that he started working with CEPAD as a beneficiary. He lives in a community called Matasanos, 16 kilometers south of Matagalpa, where CEPAD worked. “I learned of CEPAD in 2009 when they made a presentation to my community that they were going to accompany us through community development programs over 5 years. I learned so much about community organization and discovered that a united community is capable of making their dreams a reality.”

During and after the 5 years CEPAD accompanied Matasanos, they were able to get clean drinking water, build churches and schools, provide entrepreneurial workshops for women, and get scholarships for youth.

After CEPAD’s 5 years in Matasanos, Denis was invited to apply for an open position in the Matagalpa offices. Denis jumped at the chance to continue working with CEPAD, and was hired as the social technician for the region. After 3 years, he was promoted to Regional Delegate as the position was vacant.

“My favorite thing about working with CEPAD is, primarily, serving God and pursing a culture of peace, harmony, gender equality, respect, and care for the environment.”

As someone who has gone through CEPAD’s programs, Denis is able to relate to community members in the places we are currently working. “I utilize my experiences to share and motivate people and give advice. By growing up and living in a community, I understand the basic needs and can provide support as we look for a possible solution.”

Thank you, Denis, for your leadership, positive attitude, and being an excellent part of our team!

“For 47 years, CEPAD has been a national and international reference, and it’s a privilege to be part of this organization.”
