Meet Our Volunteers: Nicole Opgenorth

One of our newest volunteers, Nicole Opgenorth, arrived in Managua a few weeks ago and will be spending 2019 in Nicaragua working with CEPAD. She is from Michigan and recently graduated from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, with degrees in public relations and Spanish. Nicole will be supporting CEPAD’s delegations and communications departments. She is partnering with CEPAD through the RCA (Reformed Church in America).

She wanted to serve in Nicaragua after spending time on short-term mission trips to Bluefields, a city on the eastern coast of Nicaragua.

Nicole admires CEPAD staff and their unique mission. “CEPAD’s staff is incredibly wonderful and make coming to work each day something new. They are passionate about what they do and their love for the Lord is unmistakable. CEPAD’s mission is to help people help themselves, by training them in pastoral and community leadership, sustainable farming techniques, and economic development. I appreciate that even after CEPAD has completed their 5-year cycle, the communities continue to thrive.”

Nicole is excited to visit communities where CEPAD is present, share stories of transformed lives, and support delegations that come to visit. We are so excited to have her volunteer and join our team for 2019!
